Data source and research methodology

Source: Ministry of Corporate Affairs monthly company and LLP incorporation reports. Counts are cross-checked against the revised and verified January 2016–September 2026 monthly master, which normalises company classes and removes repeated identifiers. Share = entity count / all January registrations. YoY = comparison with the immediately preceding January when both periods are verified. Incorporation data measure newly registered entities, not operational status, employment, revenue or business success.
